Surface
Water Treatment
The standard type water treatment plant is based on tradition and
history. Experience demonstrates its ability to effectively treat most
water, generally from surface sources. This surface water treatment plant style has proven to
meet many challenging situations of extremes such as high turbidity,
iron and manganese, cold waters and seasonal quality variations. The
treated product is always safe and clear = quality water for your
community.
The Process
Coagulant chemicals are injected in the feed stream to promote
formation of flocculent particles, a grouping of dissolved and suspended
contaminants. In the flocullation step, these particles form a bond
within a delicately balanced turbulent flow. In the clarification step
the particles separate to the bottom for regular de-sludge removal,
whereas the clear water migrate to the top collector for filtration. In
the final filter step, the clarified water is refined through the
engineered layers of graduated filter sand selection, and the filter is
maintained by a periodic air scour / backwash process.
